Environmental News Online (ENO): Now Live
February 28, 2008
The news site ENO, short for “Environmental News Online” has now been live for a few days. News about the environment has been increasingly popular, and large news corporations are devoting entire sections to the environment.
Joanna Geary points out that the big challenge for journalists covering this area is how you report stories that will build a relationship of trust with the reader. I think ENO tackles this problem very well. ENO have the privilege, of having beat journalists assigned to every major aspect of the environment. This gives every journalist better chances of ensuring facts by building trust and credibility with both sources and readers.
Every journalist is keeping individual readers up to date on sources, leads, story ideas and the general work process of journalism on their blogs, and twittering time sensitive information as they go along.
The site is managed and edited by Azeem and Rachel who are responsible for the day to day editing and maintenance of the site. At time of writing the most recent news story on the site is about protestors climbing on to the roof of the Houses of Parliament, written by Alice Fanning. A slightly more rewarding position is taken up by Mitchell Jones, who enjoys the reputation of having the most popular story online about the earth quake.
