D

DNAPLDNAPL (dense nonaqueous phase liquid), is a liquid that is more dense, and doesn’t dissolve easily with water. High concentrates of this substance can form a carpet like area on the water surface or lake or river bed. This will restrict the amount of sunlight breaking through the water and impact plants and other organisms requiring sunlight. Including the photosynthesis that produces oxygen. Liquids from chlorine will often act as a DNAPL.

E

EutrophicationEutrophication can be described as a form of Algal Bloom. It is however more of a cause of Algal Bloom, Eutrophication is the process of increasing chemical nutrients in a an aquatic environment. These nutrients will cause an increase of algae, and this can eventually lead to an Algal Bloom. The increase of nutrients can happen naturally but is more often caused by leaks and sewage from farms, ships or excessive use of washing up liquid an other cleaning products.

F

FertilisersFertilisers are used by farmers to increase the amount of nutrients in either animal food or to speed up growth of plants or roots. Fertilisers occur naturally and are often the result of a compost bin. These natural Fertilisers are not particular dangerous to the environment. It is the products produced from chemicals that, if not used with care, can result in eutrophication. Fertilisers can also cause serious problems to groundwater which is a serious problem because of the long distances it can travel.

    Hi Kasper,

I really like the ABC idea – hopefully it should keep people coming back to your blog regularly. You’re obviously researching really well to.

Do you have an idea for your first article?

The addition of blood meal can restore the and green color of your nitrogen deficient plant.

Cut out berries coming from a strawberry pattern with this preschool activity.

It is not hard to pull up as it has shallow roots and
preferably this ought to be done in Spring before it sets seed.
Yet another favorite is the Chinese Juniper (Juniperus Chinensis).
